Vesty gets her wish

The Mico boys from Region 2 got their purple paintbrushes out to give eleven year old Vesty from Rotorua a galaxy themed bedroom makeover that is out of this world.

“Team Purple” comprised of Sean Wilson from Mico Rotorua, Richy Shedlock from Mico Tokoroa and Vince Jones, Regional Manager R2 took on the enormous task of prepping and painting Vesty’s room while the finer details of galaxy bedding, curtains and the projector light were left to the Make-A-Wish crew.

Vesty, who is living with a brain tumour and was undergoing treatment during the project, was all smiles as she watched her bold wish unfold.

“It was a choice project and it was good to put aside our busy schedules to do something like this for a young person. There are some unlucky people out there and things like this help put things into perspective. Some things are more important than work and it wasn’t a big deal to spend the day painting a bedroom to make a huge difference in someone’s life who is doing it tough,” says Richy.

“It felt really good to contribute in a small way for a young girl going through something you wouldn’t wish on your own kids, and something she wouldn’t wish for either. It was nice to show love and care and even spending time together as a team, working on the project was a great experience – it made it a pretty special day,” says Sean.

Well done boys on another wish granted!
