Isaac's Battle Castle

After several impressive fundraising endeavours for Make-A-Wish, the Mico Dunedin team finally had the opportunity to get hands-on and deliver a wish for Isaac, a seven-year-old local kid living with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Isaac’s one true wish – to have his very own battle castle kingdom at home. He designed the castle himself which included all the bells and whistles; a bird house, a tunnel slide, Nerf gun cupboard, drawbridge, doggy door for best friend Mishka and a pully system to deliver food!

Local builder Paul Kirby was in the right place at the right time earlier this year when he attended the Mico Dunedin Golf Day fundraiser organised by Ryan Griffith and Keri Hiko, sales reps at Mico Dunedin. After a moving presentation by Make-A-Wish Paul didn’t hesitate to put his hand up to help build the castle.

“It was a real community effort and an awesome day delivering this wish for Isaac,” says Ryan. “The builders put in a lot of time and effort which was great because Keri and I struggled to put together the bird houses! Everyone did an amazing job and it was pretty cool seeing Isaac’s face when he came home – he was just beaming and he had a couple of friends with him and they were just all over the show – it was an incredibly humbling experience.”
