Contemporary Bathroom Trends

Situated against the shores of Lyall Bay in Wellington, what was once a public cinema is now a spacious, contemporary home stunningly appointed and inspired by its history. A stunning bathroom design is what brings us to this trend.

In the main bathroom, a bold navy lends itself to an opulent classic look, a nod to the seafaring men and women named for the colour. The nautical theme is further enhanced by the use of the 3-D effect of the textured wall tiles creating a modern water illusion.

You’ll sink beneath the waves in the Clearlite Raphael, a contemporary deep oval bath with subtle contours along each side. Described as ideal in an island setting and complemented with a Kohler Souris Waterfall bath spout, the unison between this bath and the tactile wall motif creates a luxurious ambience – water, water everywhere. Brightly coloured accessories juxtapose the scene perfectly and finish the statement in an exclamation.

Hidden from view is the Hansgrohe Raindance S120 Air 3-Jet Slide Shower & Lux Elbow. A shower over bath is an excellent utilisation of space and leaves available space in the room to feature pieces that bring the theme you’re aiming to achieve alive.

A continuation of the nautical theme with the rectangular Plumbline Cangas Slim Basin (1000mm) set unobtrusively in the vanity. This situation elongates the room through a ship’s galley aesthetic and provides an open area for use. The lines of the vanity and floor tiles running parallel with the basin aid in accentuating the length of the room.

The ensuite embraces rustic copper tones reminiscent of a sub deck engine room – a yellow light reflects the copper and the distressed texture adds depth to the ambient effect that is Steampunk.
