2023 Trends

HEALTHY AND HYGIENE

Lockdowns around the globe have alerted the world to the value of a spacious, separate toilet complete with a handbasin within a family home. In a similar vein, we’re seeing more demand for additional space on bathroom vanities and work surfaces for soaps and sanitisers, toilet seats are being upgraded to increase comfort and hygiene and the Japanese trend for bidet applications within a toilet seat is increasingly sought after. Not to mention, contactless tapware for those driven by good hand hygiene.

CRAVING CONVENIENCE

Tidy and tasteful organisational options are a bathroom go-to this season with wall spaces being maximised for storage and function. Similarly, mirrored cabinets have never been so popular and niches in tiled shower walls and beside toilets are on the rise, as well as convenient, space-saving storage solutions for appliances such as electric toothbrushes. Where space allows, large-scale mirrors are being incorporated, and edges continue to soften on baths and basins

COLOURS

Colours are of course influenced by the availability of natural light in the bathroom itself, however, there is a trend towards warmer whites and the textured earthy tones of charcoals and burnt toffee for those seeking a more ‘cave-like’ experience. Yet nature trumps, with
Eucalyptus Greens and Indigo Blues predicted to lead the colour trends for this season. Wallpaper is still on the rise; the bolder and more textural the better. In terms of tapware and accessories, carbonised metal or brushed iron are proving popular.

PRODUCT

NZ availability or NZ-made, and products with a story will capture the imagination of the design-focused home. When it comes to bathing, freestanding or semi enclosed baths are forecast to be popular, and multiple shower outlets are being sought after.

Vessel basins have become the optimum in basin styling, and heated towel rails have morphed into innovative sleek design features tailored to the room styling.

DESIGN AND STYLING

Japanese culture continues its strong inspiration for interiors and materials, in particular stone and veined marbles are replacing granite, and timber vanities (restrained in shape and
style) in a light-coloured stain will become the dominant product in the bathroom. However, tried, and true slick white vanities are still well up the list. When it comes to tiles, we are
trending to either high gloss and textured finish or large stone or veined tiles. Similarly, walls and floors are being treated with the same finish for some big scale impact. If it’s luxury you
seek, improved bathroom acoustics and integrated sound systems drive those seeking the ultimate of spa experiences.

RENOVATION

More time at home, more time inside and less time to spend money elsewhere has resulted in bathroom renovations becoming an increasingly popular and fulfilling activity. As people use their own bathrooms more, they realise that they have become outdated and old, or don’t fit the range of functionality an entire household need. Because of this, we’ve seen many more largescale bathroom renovations.

Making sure that your bathroom fits your needs, from toilets and showers to basins and tapware, is the primary purpose of a bathroom. Bathrooms are a utility room, helping you get clean, get ready and feel good doing it. A bathroom renovation can help to make sure that your bathroom is fulfilling all your needs in a way that is most comfortable to you. Nobody wants to have their early mornings or late nights made harder by difficult and uncomfortable bathrooms.

Bathroom renovations also come with the choice to give your bathroom a stylistic update.
Whether or not you’re just looking to freshen up your current aesthetic or give your bathroom a complete overhaul into a completely new look, there’s no better time than when updating the function and features of your bathroom.

Modernity and simplicity are the more popular style now. Modern bathrooms have a calming
and soothing effect on bathroom users, something that many of us can never get too much of.

As bathroom technology and styles change, so does the need to update our bathrooms. The
sheer amount of thought that goes into a bathroom renovation can be overwhelming – our
bathroom experts love nothing more than to work with you, to help you create the bathroom of your dreams, in both function and style.
