Getting Around

You will fly into Kerikeri on Air New Zealand where you’ll be met and escorted to Russell which is a 45 minute drive and a car ferry. After several nights together we will head by coach up to Carrington Lodge by coach, taking approximately 2 hours. During your stay at Carrington we will have several coaches on hand to transport you to your daily activities. On departure you will fly out of Kaitaia on chartered aircraft by Barrier Airways.

Accommodation in Russell

In order to support local we will stay at several locally owned hotels, all top class and all in the centre of the little seaside town. Your comfort is key and we have ensured only the best for you! Some of the accommodation providers will be The Duke of Marlborough which has an amazing history as NZ’s first licence to sell alcohol and the base of a stopover points for whalers of the pacific, you can imagine the stories that the walls of this hotel hold. Nearby we will have rooms at Seaport and the Russell apartments as well – both lovely boutique properties to relax in between your activities.

Up at the base of Cape Reinga we will be heading to Carrington Estate A place where leisure meets nature, where rolling vineyards and farmland flow through pristine fairways down to the azure waters, white sands and untouched beaches of the Pacific Ocean.

What to do

It’s all about the great outdoors up North. Any kind of watersport you can imagine; kite surfing, kayaking, fishing, stand up paddle boards, surfing, sailing and motorboating. On land you can experience the local Maori culture, visit the giant kauri trees, horse riding, meet the local artisans, golf at world famous Carrington, diving, cycling, dine at wonderful seafood restaurants, and meet the locals in the watering holes. The famous Cape Reinga is worth a visit to see incredible 90 mile beach and try sandboarding, blow karting or quad biking. There are simply tonnes of things to do in Northland and tonnes of fabulous people to meet!

We will not be held liable for any loss or damage arising from acts or defaults outside the control of Mico, its designated travel partner and its employees and agents, including (but not limited to) the acts or defaults of actual travel, accommodation and other suppliers. The consumer’s guarantees act 1993 applies to services supplied by us, except where they are (or held out as being) acquired, for business purposes.


If by means of any event of force majeure (which shall include terrorism, pandemic or any cause or event outside our control) we shall be delayed in or prevented from performing our obligations, then such delay or non performance shall not be deemed a breach or entitle a damages claim. Our obligations shall be suspended whilst such event of force majeure continues.


All reasonable care will be taken to ensure the accuracy of promotional documentation, but services offered, package availability, prices and any event details may be subject to change from time to time.


All prices are shown in NZ dollars and/or Trade Edge points. All costs include GST where applicable. Prices shown include any airport tax, departure tax, fuel surcharges, security and airline levies. Please note that all airport, fuel, and airline charges are subject to change by the airline. Any increase in these will be on charged to you.


Each and every amendment made to a booking after confirmation will incur an amendment fee of $100 per amendment per person, along with any fees charged by airlines and/or other suppliers. Amendments to bookings within a month of departure cannot be guaranteed, but if they are possible, will incur an amendment fee of $150 per amendment per person in addition to any applicable airline reissue/amendment fees.  Mico New Zealand reserves the right to suspend, cancel or modify any of the trip details.


$275 non-refundable cash deposit or 3000 Trade Edge points is an additional cost to the Mico Trade Edge Points quoted. This must be paid at time of booking to your Mico Store where you hold your Mico Trade Edge account.


Package 100% Mico Trade Edge points. Should your Mico Trade Edge points fall short for full payment, an invoice will be raised and sent to your billing address. Additional travel arrangements not included with your Mico Trade Edge points deduction, requires full payment to Mico Travel Provider at time of booking and will be quoted at time of booking.


All cancellations must be advised in writing.

From time of booking, all cancellations will incur 3000 Trade Edge Points Fee per person fee unless a direct replacement is made. From time of booking until 24th January 2021 all cancellations will incur a fee of $250 pp or $150 name change fee if there is a direct replacement.

After the 26th of January 2021 all cancellations will incur a fee of $785 pp or $150 name change fee if there is a direct replacement. After 16th February 2021 all cancellations will incur a fee of 100% of the total booking value per person or a $150 name change  fee.

Amendments to bookings within a week of departure cannot be guaranteed and may incur additional fees.
Any extension travel may be subject to further cancellation fees dependent on supplier conditions. 


Further additional terms may apply as specified by our suppliers, agents or any relevant third parties.
