This year, the biggest DIY show on TV takes on a charming 1930’s Georgian-revival fire station. The Block NZ: Firehouse is located right in the heart of Kingsland and is home to season eight of The Block NZ! Boasting 180-degree views overlooking New Zealand’s most iconic sports ground, Eden Park, the building is rich in history with a historic façade. Decommissioned as a fire station in 1972 and transformed into an 18-room boarding house, this year we will see it evolve once more- into FIVE high end apartments. This build is not for the faint-hearted and our four teams most definitely have their work cut out for them, rebuilding and renovating their apartments from the ground up.

SOPHIA (31) & MIKAERE (32). Turangi husband and wife couple, Sophia and Mikaere (Ngati Tuwharetoa & Ngai Te Rangi) have been together since university. They own their own home and are the proud parents to 10 year old daughter, Frida. Illustrator and chef Sophia and teacher and award winning artist Mikaere say their artistic DIY skills will be put to good use on The Block NZ, with Sophia being the organised, competitive type and Mikaere the determined, ambitious half of the pair.
LISA (37) & RIBS (34). Lisa (Ngai Tahu and Ngati Kahungungu) and Ribz plan on tackling The Block NZ with high confidence and low stress. Hailing from the capital, Ribz is the self-described builder of the pair, while caterer Lisa is decisive, speaks her mind and excels in shopping and styling. The couple have spent 10 years honing their DIY skills, renovating and decorating their own home to perfection, and although most teams have their favourites, these two are looking forward to renovating every single room on The Block NZ.
ETHAN (26) & SAM (27). Ethan (Ngati Rereahu) and Sam (Ngati Rereahu and Ngati Maniapoto) hail from the mighty Waikato with Ethan living in Hamilton and Sam calling Te Kuiti home. No strangers to a construction site, Ethan works as a builder and Sam as a joiner; they claim the kitchen to be their dream reno room. Confident in their construction skills, they’re aware that the pressure may be testing, but their sense of humour and fast paced working style will live up to the high standards that they set themselves.
STACY (25) & ADAM (25). Creative couple from Wellington, social influencer Stacy and concept designer Adam have their eyes on the prize! Adam is a self-professed architecture buff, while Stacy spends her spare time volunteering for charities and working for the SPCA. Together, they dabble in DIY on their own home and while they may not have painted their house the right colour, are pros when it comes to budgeting, time management and attention to detail.
Champions of Three's The Block NZ 2018, Amy and Stu have returned to the building site! Reno masters from Gisborne, Amy and Stu thrive on bringing their creative vision to life and producing beautiful spaces. While Stu works as a plumber, Amy’s had a recent career change and is now the owner of an interior design company and a bespoke shopping getaway business. Although feeling the pressure of living up to their Block-winning title, the couple are hoping that Amy’s organisational skills and flair for design, and Stu’s plumbing and painting prowess will see them come out on top.
