Lachlan's Lego Bedroom

Like heaps of eight-year-old boys Lachlan loves Lego, but unlike the majority of them, Lachlan lives with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy, a rare genetic disease characterised by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness for which there is no known cure.

Lachlan’s one true wish was for an ‘’all things Lego bedroom makeover’’ and on Saturday 28th July Mico helped make that wish come true.

With the help of some of our awesome customers in Pukekohe – Grant Watson from Capital Homes and William from Cutting Edge Cabinetry – the mastermind behind the design and build of Lachlan’s custom bedroom, and the team at Coppertop PDG Ltd who put on the paint party – the wish delivery was a huge success.

“William from Cutting Edge is the man behind the magic! He spent a month creating 3D concepts for the Lego bedroom which he has now made into a reality! Lachlan’s bedroom has been completely custom made by William at his workshop in Puke and he has really gone above and beyond to make this wish unique and special,” says Kirsty Blackwell, Wish Coordinator at Make-A-Wish.

Sam Knight, Sales Representative for Mico South Auckland was the driving force behind enlisting help and rallying the troops throughout the wish-granting process. One of those helpers was Judy Cranstoun, Showroom Consultant who made the bedroom curtains and got stuck in at the paint party.

Sam says seeing Lachlan’s reaction to his room and how happy it made him to have his wish fulfilled was definitely rewarding. “Working on this wish was also a really different way of interacting with our customers, all of whom donated their time for free and worked hard to pull this wish off,” he says.
